Language and Representation (1981-1982)

Language and Representation was a project of five exhibitions, two film screenings, and a performance organized for A Space, Toronto, November 17, 1981 – February 24, 1982.

“Language and Representation was Philip Monk’s first curated exhibition in an artist-run space. In a few years his name would become representative of a new tendency in the artist-run spaces towards a highly rigorous, theoretical and language-based approach to curating exhibitions.” — From Sea to Shining Sea, ed. AA Bronson, Toronto: The Power Plant, 1987, 126.
